Unrestricted
Funds
As a non profit organization, Long Term Care Ombudsman Services
of Santa Barbara County must take advantage of enhancement opportunities
to keep pace with the growing need for our services. Your unrestricted
gift can provide this kind of flexibility, by helping to defray
operational costs and salaries or help launch innovatice programs
and key projects.
Direct Gifts
Some forms of giving are more beneficial to both you and the Ombudsman
Services. We encourage you to consult your financial planner.
Gifts of cash are deductible for the year the contributions are
made. You may make an outright cash donation, or express your ongoing
support with a tax-deductible donation through our annual giving
campaign.
Our Unitied Way designation allows you to make payroll-deducted
contributions directly to the Long Term Care Ombudsman Services.
Appreciated property such as real estate or securities is a particularly
beneficial way to give, because you may be able to avoid capital
gains tax.
Deferred Gifts
For you, deferred giving may mean substantial savings in income,
as well as an enhanced income base. For the Ombudsman Services,
your gift helps establish a solid financial base from which we can
draw upon in the future. Once again, we highly recommend you speak
with your financial or estate planner. The only way to guarantee
your possesions are passed on according to your wishes is to have
a written will.
Bequests allow you to leave a legacy of concern for the services
provided by the Ombudsman Services. You may designate the Ombudsman
Services as a direct recipient or contingent beneficiary. Whether
your bequest is in the form of cash, securities or other properties,
it is fully deductivle from estate taxes.
Charitable Remainder Trusts are individually created and managed,
and can pay income to you, or another beneficiary, for life. Payments
can be fixed or as a variable with investment results. Once income
payments are completed, assets remaining in the trust pass on to
the Ombudsman Services.
Life insurance gifts allow a sizeable future contribution with a
minimum investment today. The Ombudsman Services can be designated
as a beneficiary of new or existing policies. The cash surrender
value at the time of transfer as well as any subsequent premium
payments will be tax deductible. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Services
of Santa Barbara County does not provide legal or tax advice to
donors. The Ombudsman Services does, however, work with a significant
number of real estate planning attorneys, certified public accountants
and certified financial planners and will be pleased to provide
you with a referral to these professionals upon request.
